What is Havendale Village?

Havendale Village is a virtual sim on Second Life with a magical and fantasy theme. Players of Second Life may come to visit, take pictures, wander, hang out with friends, shop, or rent a home. It’s open and free, so all are welcome as long as sim rules and Linden Labs Terms of Service are not violated.

What are the rules for Havendale Village?

Sim rules can be found on the sim rules page. Rental terms and rules are available on each rental unit and can be found by clicking on the rental box/meter and choosing ‘info’ from the menu.

Can I explore the sim?

YES! Feel free to wander and explore. There are many cute and fun spots to hang out and relax alone or with friends/family. Don’t forget to use the sim teleporters to explore our public skybox areas. Only rented homes are off-limits, and if you find yourself in one of those you should get a security message letting you know to please leave quickly or get booted from the area.

What are teleporters, and where can I find them?

Teleporters are means of transporting your avatar to another location in Second Life, either to a different sim or a different location on the same sim. Havendale Village provides teleporters to reach various public areas on the same sim for easy access. They’re scattered across the sim, and can be easily used by clicking on them then choosing a destination on the menu that appears.

Are child avatars welcome?

Of course! The creators of Havendale Village created the sim with child avatars and family in mind, and encourage them to visit or rent a home on the sim. There is even a playground near the landing point for kids (or even adults) to play. The sim is labeled as a mature sim, so no X-rated talk, actions, or appearance is allowed.

Can I have sex or do other x-rated things at Havendale Village?

NO!!! The sim is labeled as a mature sim, so no X-rated talk, actions, or appearance is allowed. You cannot have sex, even in a rented home. You cannot show genitals or run around naked. You cannot age-play. You cannot emote sexual things. You cannot have photos of sex or genitals. No, there is no arguing about this. If you violate these rules or do anything else too sexual in nature on sim then you may be kicked out and/or banned.

Are role-players welcome?

Of course! Often fantasy themed sims like Havendale Village attract role-players, and that’s perfectly okay. The creators of Havendale Village are role-players themselves and welcome fellow fantasy fanatics and role-players to the sim. You may find some fandom areas they created such as Platform 9 3/4 from the Harry Potter stories. Those are open to the public as well.

Is this a role-play sim?

Not really, though role-players are welcome to come and role-play if they so choose. We are not an organized role-play community, even though one original creator tried to get one going here. Havendale Village is more of a sanctuary and fun place for role-players and fantasy lovers to come to visit and hang out out of character. Visitors may, of course, impromptu role-play on their own in areas though, and we encourage people to do so if they so choose.

Can I rent a home or store space?

Yes! Funds from rentals help keep the sim open by paying for tier. Please send a notecard to HavendaleVillage Resident in-world with any requests, questions or custom changes. We’re very flexible on setting up rentals for your needs at a low price.

How do I rent at Havendale Village?

Home rentals are temporarily suspended. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Store rentals are available by inquiry. Send HavendaleVillage Resident a notecard in-world with details about your business, if you would like to rent land space or use one of our empty buildings already set up in town, how much land impact you think you’ll need, etc. We’ll work with you to see if we can come up with something that will work for you. Rental prices are generally cheap, so it’s all about finding a good situation for everyone.

Where does money go from rentals and sim earnings?

Havendale Village is a full sim run and managed largely by one person, with occasional help from friends. Funds from rentals and events help pay the tier, which is quite expensive. If we ever earn more money than we need to cover tier, which is rare, then we spend the money on sim improvements like decor and new buildings. Money goes straight back into the Second Life community.
